Regiment LINEAGE
- Authorized on April
23, 1775 in the Massachusetts State Troops as Scammon's Regiment.
- Organized
in spring 1775 at Cambridge to consist of 10 companies from York County.
- Adopted
on June 14, 1775 into the Continental Army and assigned to the Main Continental Army.
- Assigned
on July 22, 1775 to Heath's Brigade, an element of the Main Continental Army.
- Consolidated
(less Darby's, Nowell's, Sayer's, and Sullivan's Companies) on January 1, 1776 with
Phinney's Regiment and consolidated
unit redesignated as the 18th Continental Regiment; concurrently, Darby's and
Nowell's Companies reorganized and redesignated as Darby's
and Nowell's Companies, 7th Continental Regiment and Sayer's and Sullivan's
Companies reorganized and redesignated as Sayer's
and Sullivan's Companies, 15th Continental Regiment
