19th Continental Regiment


LINEAGE

  • Authorized on July 1, 1775 in the Connecticut State Troops as the 7th Connecticut Regiment.
  • Organized on July 6, 1775 to consist of 10 companies from New Haven, Litchfield, Fairfield and New London Counties.
  • Adopted on July 19, 1777 into the Continental Army and assigned to the Main Continental Army.
  • Assigned on August 9, 1775 to Sullivan'ss Brigade, an element of the Main Continental Army.
  • Reorganized and redesignated on January 1, 1776 as the 19th Continental Regiment, to consist of 8 companies.
  • Relieved on January 24, 1776 from Sullivan's Brigade and assigned to Spencer's Brigade, an element of the Main Continental Army.
  • Relieved on April 24, 1776 from Spencer's Brigade and assigned to Sullivan's Brigade, an element of the Main Continental Army.
  • Relieved on April 29, 1776 from Sullivan's Brigade and assigned to Stirling's Brigade, an element of the Main Continental Army.
  • Relieved on August 12, 1776 from Stirling's Brigade and assigned to McDougall's Brigade, an element of the Main Continental Army.
  • Relieved on November 5, 1776 from McDougall's Brigade and assigned to Glover's Brigade, an element of the Main Continental Army.
  • Disbanded on February 15, 1777 at Morristown, New Jersey.
